“certain individuals aren't sticking to the plan…”— Warren Zevon
"and remember to keep your Karma cool…"--Rev. Willis
Sherm Clow escaped the Illinois corn fields of his youth to relocate at the University of Utah in the mid 1960s. A degree in Anthropology was the academic education he received, but the real education was the social upheaval occurring during those years. Embracing the sex, drugs, rock&roll and fighting in the streets of the times, albeit in modest quantities, he is generally considered a radical, anarchist, neo-commie pig. However, he now claims to be a conservative: conserving democracy, conserving the constitution, conserving the environment, conserving social justice for all. A contradiction? Not so….
He co-founded the Cosmic Aeroplane, SLC’s first and most popular head shop. Ordained by the Universal Life Church he’s performed dozens of marriages as well as developing his nom de plume. As Rev. Willlis he spent several years hosting radio shows on the local public radio station. This led to a hobby recording live music of local jazz and SoCal surf music. Other interests include film noir, historic sports car racing, Braves baseball and so much more.

The Rev. Willis Blog is frequently updated with my latest adventures or with odd things I discover.
I’ve done a lot of recording and production. Many of my projects are found at my Rev. Willis Bandcamp Site.
Back in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s myself and some friends did a bunch of great radio shows (includes Smokey’s Blues Hour). Archived Airwaves is where the shows are posted for streaming or downloading.
My son Willis is quite the guitar player. The Willis Clow Web Site has more information and many of his recordings.
In the first decade of the new century, there was an incredible jazz big band made up of some the finest local musicians (Willis was a founding member). Some of SLAJO’s music is found here: Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra
In the late 1960’s, I hung with some guys who formed a pretty good blues band. In memory of those times, we produced a CD of the Smoke Blues Band.
If you are a fan of Charles Bukowski, check out his reading at the Underwater Poetry Festival. We were lucky to get permission to offer this rare recorded appearance.
And a shout out to a great group of folks who remain active today trying to make the world a better place. The mythology surrounding the Bastille Family is historical.
Mike Evans curates the Cosmic Aeroplane website.
My partner, Miriam, has opened new vistas in my life. She is an executive consultant (and retiring prof at Pepperdine University). Her info is found at Miriam Lacey Consulting.
Finally, my good friend and webmaster (and brilliant photographer) certainly needs mention.
And, yes, Godzilla is my favorite movie actor…
