Sun Ra Lives!
Sun Ra, musician, poet, composer, band leader, cosmic explorer, and general amazing individual has always been a hero of mine. If you note in the pic above, he personally autographed my LP copy of Magic City.
Sun Ra passed away a number of years ago, but his Arkestra continues on, led by 90+ year old, multi reed player, Marshall Allen. While the current Arkestra has new members, some of the older players are still in the group. Most importantly, the Arkestra has released a new CD! Here are links to a couple articles on the group...

Hot Jazz!
The studio recordings of jazz combo John Henry are finally available! John Henry was one of the greatest jazz groups of it's era (2003-2010 or so), easily creating some of the best jazz anywhere in the world! From Studio 13 recordings, with the help of many, the music is finally available on streaming services and from downloads. All compositions, with noted exceptions, are by the trumpet player, Dave Chisholm.
