North Rim

We've been talking about a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for several years.  We finally got a reservation in one of the cabins at the main lodge overlooking the canyon.  There's a wonderful drive that takes you to several overlooks that require easy hikes to appreciate.  Some pics:

Ranchin' the 4th

Another get together over the July 4th holiday at the Ranch.  A surprise this year was the work of an emerging new artist.  These skulls are fabulous!  Ryan needs to get his work into one of those Park City galleries...

Sunday brought us the traditional Bloody Mary party.  Big thanks to Jane and Kathleen for their hard work.

Following the Bloody Mary's, we were finally in shape for Church...  services led by George and Rosemary.

Lisa opened her salon for some special guests...

My Cactus Craze

Most of the year, my front yard looks kinda crappy...  But for two weeks, incredible beauty explodes.  I love my cactus garden.

Besides the blooming cactus, there are all these other plants in the garden that are doing wild things.  I don't remember all their names, but they are very cool...

Big Wedding

My son Willis married Nisa this last weekend...  for the third time...  and, yes, all three to Nisa.  Long story...

The wedding was a really fun ceremony.  I enjoyed all of it (although I'm not a big fan of minions and Tom Brady is not the best quarterback in football).

San Rafael Spring

Due to a wet and cool month of May, desert trips have been limited.  But we did get to spend a couple days at our favorite secluded camping site.  All our favorite features were still there (of course) offering some wonderful scenic beauty along with the quiet solitude only found in the desert.

A nice breeze kept the bugs off us as we enjoyed the twilight.

The next day we drove down to the end of the Mexican Mountain road to begin a hike into the canyons surrounding the mountain.  On the way, we found some cactus blooming.

On our hike, we found an interesting side canyon.  Somewhere down in that area is an arch, so we headed up the canyon in hopes of finding it.  Didn't happen, but the canyon was wonderful anyway.

One loud shout from me and our intrepid photographer was buried beneath tons of red rock.  I'll look for him next year.  Here's a lower rez final shot from the world's greatest photographer.
